HTBWI confessed:
I had to struggle for over a month with a terrifying concept. I WOULD DIE and that WOULD BE IT! Evento this day it streaks terror into me. However since then I realized that this century has the potential for inventing computers capable of storing the memories of us so its a small relief.
If you think about sometime in the distant past before you were born - let's use 666 A.D. - do you feel fear and dread?
I'll guess you don't.
When you die - and sooner or later you WILL die - you will not exist, just as you didn't exist in 666 A.D. There's nothing to fear and thhere will be no "you" to experience anything.
So chillax! Don't waste your todays worrying about a tomorrow of which you will be unaware.

Is Richard Dawkins giving atheists a bad name?
by slimboyfat inhe just can't seem to stop himself taunting "these muslims" or "some muslim or other".
among his favourite taunts are:.
"all the world's muslims have fewer nobel prizes than trinity college, cambridge.".

The mulla's evaluation of books of learning: ""If those books are in agreement with the Quran, we have no need of them; and if these are opposed to the Quran, destroy them."
...sounds so Watchtower-y to me.

Now that Gays can legally get married, if one of the gay couple want to become a JW would he or she have to get a divorce?
by booker-t ini remember years ago maybe 20 years ago an elder or co was giving a talk on armaggeddon and he said that we know we are close to the end when homosexuals get the same rights as straight people.
he said jehovah would never allow gay people to marry because it would be an abomination and he would do the same as sodom and gommorrah.
what if a member of a gay couple decides to become a jws would he or she have to get a divorce?.

Hortensia is correct, the WTB&TS is no supporter of gay rights.
If I recall correctly, the official WT position is that a gay person can serve Jehovah as long as they remain celibate.
So unless the marriage is just so you have a partner for tennis, it is off-limits.

The Muslim world is often given credit for keeping learning alive during the Dark Ages, and Muslims are happy to take that credit.
What made the Dark Ages so dark? In addition to the dearth of LED bulbs, it was also the fact that the Churches of Xtiandom were acting very much the way the Muslim world acts today. It is as if Muslims looked at the Dark Ages and thought, "y'know... we might be able to make this work."
So mush for preserving knowledge, algebra and alchemy. As my former boss used to ask whenever I recited my list of last month's accomplishments, "Yeah, but what have you done for me lately?"
Dawkins is correct to ask the Muslim worls, "What have you done for me lately?"
...and I would be PROUD to stand with Dawkins anyday! As an atheist, all flavors of intolerance and institutionalized ignorance are my enemy.

We Are Not Witnesses For JEHOVAH - According to the Bible
by The Searcher injehovah gave his worshippers a prophesied new name, (isa.
62:2; acts 11:26) but in j.f.
rutherford's eyes it was not distinctive enough from a marketing point of view, (having restructured "the business" after its severe contraction in the 20s due to his failed 'vision') so he came up with a name which featured the creator's distinctive name, "jehovah's witnesses" - a business strategy employed in those days by kellog and many others.. we now describe them as 'designer names'.. here are the scriptural proofs, but of course, they may count for nothing in some people's eyes because the "glorious ones" in brooklyn say differently!

Go back to Isaiah, who provides that name, just 2 verses down from where you stopped reading:
ISAIAH 62:4 -
Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken;
neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate:
but thou shalt be called Hephzi-bah,
and thy land Beulah:
for the Lord delighteth in thee,
and thy land shall be married.
